Phobia means “an irrational fear” and I don’t see why people call it homophobia when they don’t fear us but instead hate the idea of our existence. My elder brother who is a millennial got to know about my sexuality which happens to be pansexual but no matter how ‘modern’ he thought he was; he always questioned the LGBTQIA+ community. Saying things like and I quote “but by nature only a man and a woman can reproduce together and definitely this cannot happen by the same sex together.” To this I said “sexual needs and psychological needs are completely different. Yes it’s true that reproduction happens between opposite sex, However, We need to have psychological needs in order to have better sexual needs.” I mean just think logically, you can satisfy yourself using toys that are available online but still you would want to do it with another human being of your sexuality and the only reason could be because of your psychological needs. Reproduction can also happen without consent, and that’s already a big problem in our country. Overall, what we’re asking for is for you to give us your understanding and acceptance towards this community rather than thinking us as a sin or making a judgement of your own.
